Set in the occult 1920’s, The Locksmith’s Dream invites guests to step into a magnificent 17th century house in the Monmouthshire countryside. A mysterious setting which allows guests to explore their own curiosity and moments of joyous realisation when solving intriguing puzzles. Come for a luxury overnight stay and join a narrative occult scavenger hunt of mysterious proportions.
The Locksmith’s Dream is an immersive and interactive overnight experience, with actors in character throughout, and a stunning venue to explore with puzzle and narrative elements seamlessly threaded though. It combines a narrative, scavenger hunt, escape room and theatrical experience with fine dining and cocktails in a unique and beautiful location.
“What could you possibly compare it with?
What escape room has you staying overnight in a remote manor house?
What country hotel getaway comes with its own haunted storyline?
What mystery dinner party is dozens of mysteries wrapped into one setting?
However you look at The Locksmith’s Dream, there really is nothing else like this.” No Proscenium
Inspired by immersive experiences such as Secret Cinema, and theatrical experiences and the feeling of place and immersion that Punchdrunk performances provide. The Locksmith’s Dream combines these with deep narrative elements and no ‘right way’ to experience it.
The narrative lives in a detailed immersive world in which guests can explore at their own pace and in their preferred way. Solve the narrative puzzles, discover terrible secrets, chat with the actors, get involved with the big moral choices, or explore the house and grounds stopping for delicious food and drinking cocktails in the bar.
“…[the narrative] is woven into every part of the experience and its characters range from the pathetically tragic to the downright sinister. Some are present among the cast, others only glimpsed through the lens of letters, books, paintings, artefacts and the strangeness of the house.” Claire Chippendale
At the centre of the experience is the magic of the location, the 17th Century manor house where The Locksmith’s Dream takes place. Another of our guests said, Stay the night in a gorgeous manor house and explore a corner of the invisible world as you tug and tease at the web of narrative threads that surround you. Shelter behind the identity and title of an illustrious (or infamous!) former guest of the house. Search for the clues hidden in plain sight and in unlikely places. Trade Birdsong with the Curator, gossip with Bartender, take a tour of the grounds with the trusted servant, Hawthorn. And decide whether or not to believe everything the Inspector says…
Our aim with the Locksmith’s Dream is to create moments of delight; be this through the moment of solving a puzzle, of interacting with the beautiful diegetic props, like the hand-bound bespoke journals, written objects or the human connection made with the actors and other guests.
By exploring the house you will find not only other guests but also people who can perhaps help or enlighten. The house is the warp, and the staff are the weft, indivisible from the place and as dependable as the bricks and mortar. They’ll ensure you’re well looked after, and there will always be someone on hand to answer those burning questions, guide your efforts and provide refreshments.
“AS NIGHT FALLS, THE HOUSE CHANGES. AFTER A SUMPTUOUS DINNER IN THE OAK-PANELLED DINING HALL, YOU’LL RETIRE TO YOUR ROOMS TO REFRESH YOURSELF AND PREPARE FOR THE NIGHT, SLIPPING ON YOUR MASK AND STEPPING INTO THE HOUSE OF THE MOON.”
